Avoid constipation. Read the advice in the section about constipation.
Do not spend too much time sitting on the toilet. Do not force when having a bowel movement. Using a stool to raise your feet when you are sitting on the toilet will reduce the effort.
Exercises to reinforce the pelvic muscles will improve circulation. You will find details on the topic in Module 6 entitled 'Healthy Activity'.
A 15 to 20 minute hot bath can reduce the pain.
Ice or cold compresses placed on the hemorrhoids can also help.
